NEWS FLASH #1

WELCOME to ROOM 208!!!

We’ve had a great start to the new school year. Everyone’s started to settle into their new routines. I’d like to take this opportunity to say “Welcome!” to all our new students and “Welcome back!” to all the students from last year!

ABOUT THIS NEWSLETTER:

This Newsletter will be sent home periodically to update you about things happening in our class.

AGENDA’S:

The agenda’s are our primary means of communication. Students will communicate day to day information in the agenda. Reminders of any HOMEWORK ASSIGNMENTS will be noted here. I will also relay any information (e.g. letters and forms from the office) in the agenda. Please be sure to check and initial your child’s agenda every night.

Also please feel free to write and let us know of any exciting events that happen at home or any other information you wish to relay.

If you know your child is going to be away please also note that in the agenda. It is extremely helpful to us and greatly appreciated!

NEW SCHOOL TIMETABLE:

A student timetable will be going home next week.

Our school is on a 5 DAY schedule rotation.

The advantage of this system is that activities and classes previously scheduled on Mondays or Fridays will not be missed because of long weekends and P.A. Days. (e.g., if “Day 3” happens to be on a Friday before Thanksgiving weekend, then “Day 4” will be on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving Monday).

Currently Tuesday is DAY 1, since school started on a Tuesday.

PHYS. ED. & Km CLUB:

All of our students participate in Physical Education. Our class has gym periods twice a week.

On days, we don’t have gym class, we still spend a Ministry mandated 20 minutes of “Daily Physical Activity).

For the next few weeks students will also be participating in Kilometer Club. This is usually run at morning recess.

It is important for students to have running shoes for school everyday.

LIBRARY:

We have Library every Day 1. Please make sure your child has a chance to read the library book at home and that he/she takes responsibility for the care of the book. The library book needs to be returned every week to be exchanged for a new one.

HEALTH & SAFETY:

We have students at school who have severe NUT allergies. Please keep this in mind when your child is packing his or her lunch and snacks.
