My name is Jean
Wan, and I am a teacher candidate at the University of Toronto. Mr.
Cheng and the students of 208 have graciously welcomed me into their
classroom, and I have enjoyed my stay so far in
the class.
We have started
a cross-curricular unit on Egypt and the quality of life. In Social
Studies, the Grade 5s will be judging the quality of life in Ancient
Egypt, and the Grade 6s will study Egypt in the
present day and examine its links to Canada.
We will also
touch upon the subject of Egypt in Art, where we are working with chalk
pastels and exploring its different possibilities regarding line, shade,
colour, blending, and intensity. Students
will be making their own Egyptian hieroglyphic cartouches, expressing
their names.
And in Math, we have begun a unit on Measurement, where we will be studying time, distance, speed, and currency.
I look forward to the rest of my time at Rouge Valley.
